If I told you I've been writing stories since I could hold a pencil, I'd be lying. (However, I do have a distinct memory of making big loopy squiggles pretending I was writing in cursive, but I would hardly call it a story.) And I wasn't a very big reader either, unless it was a textbook.
So, my life took me in a completely different direction. I went to college, earned a degree in engineering and went off to work in various industries...pharmaceutical, aeronautical, and automotive. I had great jobs with solid companies, but my heart was never in it. I would look around and wonder how people could stand to work there day in and day out. I was so bored.
I'm not quite sure how it began, but writing soon called my name. I tried my hand at children's stories then gave that up to write articles for local magazines and newspapers. After having some success in that realm, I did some research and learned about the thriving romance market. I read extensively in the genre and fell in love. (No pun intended!) I finally got my nerve up to write an entire book. Despite constantly fighting the little voice that said, "Why are you wasting your time?" I pushed through and have since completed three manuscripts. I'm still unpublished, but I've moved from getting "Dear Author" rejection letters to a lengthy request for revisions from a New York publisher.
Someday soon, I hope to share good news with you.
I live in Western New York with my awesome husband and young kids. When I'm not doing "mom" stuff, I'm reading or writing.
And I'm never bored.
